Relating Systems Thinking and Design Symposium (RSD)

The Relating Systems Thinking and Design Symposium, or RSD, started in 2012 at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design as a graduate seminar led by Birger Sevaldson. The goal was to explore how systems thinking could connect with design thinking and design practice, especially in complex contexts like service systems, social systems, and policy development.

Since then, RSD has grown into an annual symposium and a global community of practice. It is now a key space for sharing insights, methods, and ideas that help move systemic design forward in practical ways.

RSD brings together researchers and practitioners working across multiple systems and scales. It is a space to learn, connect, and explore new ways to put systemic design into action.
